Google Streetview Changes to Keep Costs Down - Webfactory

Recently, Google updated its pricing, which made using their mapping services significantly more expensive. A few weeks ago, we quietly switched to a new provider for most of our map features to keep things running smoothly without increasing costs.

However, Streetview is still a Google-only feature, and we’ve been receiving some surprisingly high bills just for that part of the service.

Rather than removing Streetview or increasing prices, we’ve made a small change: Streetview will no longer load automatically on the page. Instead, you’ll now see a "Load Streetview" button. If you want to view it, just click - easy!

This lets us keep offering the feature without raising prices. If costs continue to rise, we may need to revisit this decision, but for now, we hope this strikes the right balance.
